The BFI IMAX on London’s South Bank has the largest cinema screen in the UK. It first opened in 1999 thanks to £15 million from the Arts Council of England's Lottery Fund. Designer and award-winning architect Bryan Avery has created an impressive multi-storey, glass-enclosed cylinder, illuminated by coloured lighting effects at night, heralded as a beacon on London's iconic South Bank. Daily film schedule and information on schools' screenings and corporate hire are readily available for Europe's largest screen, which shows mainly large format 2 and 3D.
