The definitive guide to London dining & events

...Places to celebrate St Patrick's Day

Date: 11.03.11 Category:

“If stout-induced sing-alongs aren't your idea of a craic-ing night out, avoid relying on the luck of the Irish.”

Here are a few of my favourite places to celebrate St Patrick's Day in style:

Lutyens
Monday 14th - Friday 18th March
With celebrations extended over the span of a week, Irish head chef, David Burke, has designed a selection of menus to showcase his favourite traditional dishes using only the finest of Irish produce (three-course menu compris costs £39.50 per person). Lutyen's Members' Club will also host a range of Irish-inspired events and entertainment throughout the week.

Bentley's
Thursday 17th March
The Jameson Room at Bentley's is hosting a lively extravaganza of St Patrick's Day festivities. An Irish buffet-style lunch of Oysters, Irish stew and cheeses will be followed by live music and traditional dancing to keep your toes tapping well into the evening. Full day tickets cost £45 per person (from 1pm) and late afternoon tickets are available from 4pm for £20 per person.

Corrigan's
Monday 14th - Friday 18th March
Corrigan's Irish Market menu will be available from 12-3pm for just £27 per person including three-courses and a carafe of wine. Additionally, their legendary cheese trolley will exclusively feature Irish cheeses only for the week of St Patrick's day.

No. 92
Thursday 17th March
For one night only, new addition to the Notting Hill scene, No. 92 has banished Guinness from their menu to make way for a more sophisticated St Patrick's Day celebration. The bar team have specially created the 'Sham-tini' to mark the occasion, an Irish inspired cocktail guaranteed to keep the leprechauns at bay.

Embargo 59
Thursday 17th March

Offering an Irish spin on the Chelsea club scene, Embargo 59 promises a raucous party with live acoustic music, cocktails and rooftop shenanigans aplenty.

For guest list email simon.allison@embargo59.com quoting Lady Blonde.

The Cow
Thursday 17th March
Albeit a permanent fixture on their menu, the Cow Special of a pint of Guinness and ½ dozen rock oysters for £12.95 seems more than apt for a low-key St Patrick's Day celebration at Tom Conran's Notting Hill pub.
