Frieze is something to be celebrated and devoured; it is a veritable feast for the eyes, an inspiring celebration of talent. But none of us can deny that it's also a stressful bum-fight; as the masses descend with their fold-out maps, backpacks and ignorant comments, it requires a conviction to culture, very pointy elbows and a well-fueled stomach to survive. 

So whether you are after an early energy burst, midday sustenance, or an evening of recovery, there are some fantastic places in the surrounding areas where you can escape the masses.

North of Regent's Park is Primrose Hill; an area known for its village feel and quirky but glamorous residents. Melrose and Morgan prepares delicious food to take-away or eat-in. Manna is the place if you're a vegetarian craving something inspired. Sardo Canale is the place for Italian food with a Sardinian-focused menu. L'Absinthe offers a cosy French-inspired retreat, as does the renowned Odette's. Serving rustic wood-fired pizzas in a relaxed and cosy setting, Primrose Hill also benefits from a spectacular pub – The Lansdowne.

Also a short walk from the park is chic and sophisticated Marylebone High Street. Orrery Epicerie, The Natural Kitchen and Cocorino are great meeting places to start the day. And a visit to the area is not complete unless you pop into renowned La Fromagerie, whether it is to eat, browse or buy...but best leave this to the end of your day unless you want to waft a cheesy odour in your wake. And both Providores and Café Luc offer a relaxed and chic atmosphere in which to recover and reward.
