Places for Thanksgiving
“Thank you America for pumpkin pie. Thank you London restaurateurs for adopting it.”
This year Thanksgiving falls on Thursday 25th November and restaurants around London will be adapting their menus to mark the occasion.
La Fromagerie on Moxon Street is holding Thanksgiving celebrations with Crémant d'Alsace & whiskey sours, followed by a delicious four course supper with all-American fare paired with fabulous wines. Guests will feast on chowder or pumpkin soup with cornbread, roast turkey with all the trimmings, a classic cheese course and finishing with the essential pumpkin pie. Christopher's is offering a three course traditional set menu at £38 per person (including roast corn and chorizo chowder, Norfolk turkey, roast salmon with lobster mash, roast rump of lamp and pumpkin pie). The Breakfast Club is serving a three course Thanksgiving Day menu to include butternut squash soup, turkey, mac and cheese and pecan pie (+ coffee) for £25 per person. PJ's Grill is offering a Thanksgiving-themed set menu at £31.95 per person. The Fifth Floor, Harvey Nichols is also hosting a Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday 25th November. The three course Thanksgiving menu is priced at £24.50 for lunch and £29.50 for dinner, with the classic fudge brownie dessert coming highly recommended. The Reading Room at Claridge's has created a Southern set menu with all the usual trimmings complete with the expected up market flair. And Julie's and Clarke's are also adding Thanksgiving favourites to their menu.
HIX at The Albemarle at Brown's Hotel will be serving a three course Thanksgiving Day menu on 26th November but you can sample the special Thanksgiving dinner at the Albemarle on 25th November 2010 between 5.30pm and 11pm. The £49.50 three course menu offers clam and sweet corn chowder, roast Holy Farm turkey and pumpkin pie with cinnamon ice cream.
Automat is running a set menu form the 23rd to 28th November 201o at £48 per head. This offer is well-suited to large groups and will have all classics on offer. And from the 25th to 29th November, both The Ebury and The Waterway are offering a three-course thanksgiving menu which Lady Blonde members can enjoy for just £25 per head. And Babylon at The Roof Gardens are incorporating live American jazz into their Thanksgiving themed night.
And for all of this, we Londoners give thanks.
