...Places for Healthy Eating
“Wishing you could tighten your belt as well as your purse-strings?”
For the month of January, some of London's best restaurants have created special healthy menus that are sure to inspire you to put down the celery sticks. French/Japanese fusion restaurant, L'Etranger has launched a fat-free menu priced at £29 for two courses and £38 for three courses. Bluebird have created a wellbeing menu which also showcases the produce of Secrett Farm, their selected food producer of the month. And with already largely virtuous menus, both Nobu Berkeley and Nobu London are offering diners unlimited green tea for an optional £1 which will be donated to the children's charity Kids Company.
As January also often brings a tightening of the purse strings, Asia de Cuba are bringing back their popular £10 Bento Box to open arms for this month only. Sumosan have also recently collaborated with lauded personal trainer Matt Roberts to create two new menus, one nutritionally balanced for optimum health and the other to aid weight loss, all for a very affordable £17 per person.
If your body is crying out for some much needed pampering, head to Agua Spa at the Sanderson where a relaxing spa treatment can be enjoyed alongside specially devised menus and smoothies (each individually promoting anti-ageing, radiance boosting, purification, detoxification or uplifting). Alternatively, diners at sister restaurants Awana and Mango Tree, will be treated to a complimentary massage upon arrival courtesy of Chi Yu Wellness Centre (7-9pm Monday and Tuesday evenings until 18th January). Both restaurants are offering special detox menus throughout January, with Awana serving a selection of Malaysian dishes (£25 for three courses) and Mango Tree a Thai menu (£30 for three courses) accompanied by a range of (if there is such a thing) detoxifying cocktails.
Healthy dining options need not be restricted to the post-Christmas period, there are a number of fantastic restaurants that focus on promoting healthy eating all year round: Saf offers an innovative approach to vegan fine dining (their menu is 75% raw) and the bar uses organic and artisan spirits infused with fresh seasonal produce to create delicious botanical cocktails; and one of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in Europe, Manna, has been serving classic vegetarian cuisine to Primrose Hill locals for over 40 years.
