...Ideas for Mothers Day
“Through the most spectacular highs and the lowest of lows, she's the one who's always been there. Here are a few ways to say thank you to the leading lady in your life.”
For the ultimate indulgence, treat your mum to the Mother's Day Package at The Langham London which includes a night in the Grand Room, afternoon tea in the Palm Court and a spa treatment in the newly-opened Chuan Spa. Haymarket Hotel and Soho Hotel are also offering an overnight packages including afternoon tea for two and breakfast the following morning. Email LBHQ for booking enquiries.
Afternoon tea is a treat well received by mothers across the country, and London has some of the best on offer. In partnership with Hendrick's Gin, Hush will be serving complimentary cocktails for the launch of their new Hendrick's High Tea (£26.75 per person) on Mother's Day. The Firmdale Group are offering a winning combination of afternoon tea and a film screening at the Charlotte Street Hotel (showing Morning Glory), Soho Hotel (showing Never Let Me Go), and Covent Garden Hotel (showing The King's Speech). And for a unique take on the traditional, head to the Sanderson for their quirky Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea which features a colourful array of 'Eat Me' cakes and 'Drink Me' potions.
As an homage to their own maternal roots, head chefs at both Odette's (three-course lunch for £35 per person) in Primrose Hill and Babbo (includes a complimentary Bellini on arrival and petit fours to finish) are featuring dishes on their menus that have been derived from recipes passed down from their mother and grandmother respectively.
For a child-friendly lunch, Asia De Cuba have created a special £5 Bento Box just for children and will offer adults a complimentary glass of Moet & Chandon. Whereas Le Café Anglais are providing an entertainer to keep the kids amused, leaving you to enjoy your lunch (three-courses for £29.50).
L'Etranger (four-courses and cocktail for £39.50) and Corrigan's (three-courses for £27) are also offering special set lunches by which to treat your mum. And it seems that there is such a thing as a free lunch (if you're a mother, that is…), with The Chesterfield, JW Steakhouse and Gilgamesh all offering complimentary meals* for mums on Mother's Day.
For the yummy mummys amongst us, Chic & Seek are hosting Cocktails & Couture, a shopping and pampering event at No. 92 on Monday 4th April, where guests can enjoy a complimentary Bellini and manicure whilst perusing their collection of designer accessories. Attendees are also entitled to 25% off the bill if they decide to dine next door at Notting Hill Brasserie after the event.
And finally, if you'd rather avoid the crowds this weekend, Happy Box London, Gift-Library.com, DoughDough.com and Purely Roses can take the stress out of shopping for gifts, sweet treats and flowers with the click of a button.
* One mother is entitled to a complimentary three-course meal when 3 or more guests order from the set menu on April 3rd at Gilgamesh. One mother is entitled to a complimentary Oscar fillet steak and glass of Tattinger Champagne when dining with three guests on April 3rd at JW Steakhouse.
