...Halloween Haunts
“ Personally, I wouldn’t be seen dead at a Halloween party. But for those that would, there are plenty of parties where you can don your devil's drapery.”
So it’s that time of year again, when fancy-dress-lovers can brush the cobwebs off their cobwebs, douse themselves in blood, install fake teeth and take to the streets. Whilst this holds little appeal for me, and I fully intend to stay indoors in the dark (so as to avoid having to answer the door 67 times to children demanding money and sweets), the rest of you might like to head to one of these spooktacular parties:
Raffles is kicking things off and going slightly against the grain and hosting a ‘Pinstripes and Pencils’ party on Thursday 28th. Entry to the Wall Street themed party will be complimentary before 11pm via guest list, with complimentary cocktails between 10-11pm. Guest lists to lbhq@ladyblonde.com.
One Aldwych is holding a special Halloween screening of The Shining on Friday 29th October with a delicious three-course dinner and a glass of Champagne in Axis at One Aldwych. This package is £38.50 per person. For more details, visit www.onealdwych.com/halloween.
Anise Bar (Cinnamon Kitchen) is spicing up Halloween with an all-night party of witchcraft and wickedness. From 9pm until 3am on Saturday 30th October, Anise, near Liverpool Street Station will be transformed into a haunted house filled with ghoulish goodies. The best dressed wins a bottle of Champagne. Entry is £10 for ladies and £15 for gents before 11pm. For tickets visit www.chillitickets.com/blackrock.
Gilgamesh promises to host an evening of unforgettable music and visual displays as well as a huge amount of ghoulish goings on, on Saturday 30th October. The party kicks off at the witching hour of 10pm in the Studio, which will be transformed into an eerie land, shrouded in mist and full of hidden dangers lurking around every corner. Entry will be free to the first 30 Lady Blonde readers who quote ‘Lady Blonde’ when RSVP'ing to events@gilgameshbar.com.
Morton’s Club invites you to an evening at the Haunted House on Saturday 30th October. Dare to enter the demonic depths of the Night Lounge? Fancy dress is essential. The front of the house will be transformed with plenty of eerie entertainment.
Please send Night Lounge reservations to lbhq@ladyblonde.com. £1000 per table reservation 10pm-3am.
E.T.A. (Estimated Time of Arrival) will host an unforgettable Halloween party in one of the highest points in London on Friday 29th October. The evening promises to be one of unforgettable music and visual displays. The party will kick off at 9pm on the 29th floor of the Milbank Tower, offering 360 degree panoramic views over the chilling London skyline. Guests will enter a maze of cobwebs, pumpkins and other spooky surprises. For tickets please visit www.estimatedtimeofarrival.com. Tickets are £15 in advance, £20 on the door.
The team behind boutique festival Winterwell will host a truly terrifying Victorian-themed Halloween party on Saturday 30th at the Village Underground in Shoreditch. With live cabaret performances, music and DJs, revelers will be transported back through the mists of time to a London where dangers lurked on every street corner and murderers haunted Scotland Yard. For tickets please visit http://winterwell.co.uk/halloween. Tickets are £20 in advance.
Sea life London Aquarium’s Halloween party kicks off on Saturday 30th October from 8.00pm- 12.30pm with pirate hosts leading revelers down the harrowing dark depths of the aquarium where they will encounter sharks, deadly jelly fish and crocodiles. Ghoulish attire or sexy and swashbuckling ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ costume required. A cash only bar will be in operation. Ticket prices start at £15 for first 150 and £20 after. Early booking is advised for cheaper ticket prices. For tickets call in advance 0871 282 9210.
Dans Le Noir is hosting a special Halloween themed evening on Saturday 30th. An evening of witches, vampires, bats and surprises awaits in the darkness. There will also be a rather amusing sounding ‘shout contest’ where the worst shout will be rewarded. A special menu (and a vegetarian menu) is available with 2 or 3 courses (£40 or £45), drinks not included.
The Breakfast Club will be changing their menu throughout the week (25th – 29th) with smoothies and breakfasts receiving spooky makeovers. Well worth a visit for a Halloween hit.
The Waterway, The Summerhouse, The Ebury and Running Horse will be offering a selection of Halloween-themed special dishes and cocktails over the whole Halloween weekend with sweet treats for all.
Paradise by Way of Kensal Green will be having a two day freak out over Halloween. Saturday will consist of the usual Saturday Paradise shenanigans with a ghoulish twist – free entrance and a cocktail for all those in fancy dress. And the 31st will see the ‘Sunday Soul’ session get spooked for an evening of musical tricks and treats until the early hours.
